LOC Camp

From the 26th until the 28th of August, many form 4s from Leo Club of SMK Assunta, Damansara Jaya, Taman SEA and Taman Petaling got to experience the annual Leo Orientation Camp, organized by the Petaling Jaya Integrity.

It started off as a rainy day at a&w. It might have been a gloomy day but most of the Leos present were excited for the camp. After all, this is the first time the Leo Orientation Camp has been held outside of school grounds, at Taman Wetland, Putrajaya.

I'm sure many of us have already googled the place before leaving for our trip, right? Well we weren't disappointed... Our campsite turned out to be better than expected! I even vaguely remember someone describing the toilets as beautiful... And they weren't wrong!

We were split into different groups when we finally reached the campsite, and every team had to come up with their own team name, roll call and select their own president, secretary, director and whatnot.

Our first activity was something the Taman SEA Leos were familiar with. They gave each of us a sheet of paper, with blank boxes for people to sign according to their description. It was an easy task, and it was certainly an ice breaker and a fast way for everyone to communicate with each other despite being strangers.

And of course, they wouldn't let the top 5 quickest to collect all the signatures to go unrewarded, would they? The top 5 winners were given a T-shirt each!

After that, it was a first time for many Leos as we independently set up our own tents! Of course, some girls had help from the guys too :)

Soon after, we walked to a nearby huge field, where we played frisbee - a first for many Leos too.

Our next activity (Besides eating!) was the station games, very much alike as our Taman SEA Orientation Day, but of course, not as fun and messy as the original.The station games each require a certain skill, teamwork, brains and strength.

The next morning, we had a morning jog to the huge field where we put our newly learnt frisbee skills to use, at the frisbee competition! Each team were playing against each other. It didn't matter if you won or lost, at least everyone had a chance to play and had fun along with their new found friends.

During lunch, we had our special guest, Lion Ang Toon Aun to give us a motivational speech. After that, they conducted the opening ceremony with speeches from Lion Ivan, the OC Chien Lung and PJI president Wai Yew. Every president from each club were also given a chance to give a speech each!

After that, we had a guest lecturer present, Mr Adrian from Taylor's College to give a speech about HIV. It was certainly eye-opening as he taught us the facts that are often left out during speeches. It was entertaining, educational and interactive at the same time.

When the educational talk was over, everyone had a little free time to rest and take a nap, especially for those who stayed up all night!

After that, we had something a little different for dinner. Each team were given a few ingredients to cook by themselves! Every ingredient given was according to which game station you won the night before.

By night time, we had a club presentation. Most clubs were singing songs, some were conducting games. Then it was fellowship night. Then again, we all have fun with the games, everyone got to interact with each other more rather than being stuck to the same clique for the whole trip.

The next day, everyone was already feeling sort of sad that the camp is coming to a close. We had our presentation and discussion about each club's annual planners and projects that are coming up. We then packed up, took down the tents and had our closing ceremony. All the club's presidents got a chance to give a speech on the camp so far, OC Chien Lung, Lion Ivan and Lion Clayton also gave their motivational speeches and as soon as we know it, closing ceremony was over. Everyone was sad as we boarded the bus and left for A&W, where 3 days ago we were unaware of what awaited us in the next three days.

This year's camp was fun, so make sure you come for the next camp, next year! There will also be a Leo Leadership Camp after exams! See you there :)

You all know about the Lions International already don't you? Well, did you also know that their know as ' The knights of the Blind' ? It all started from Lion Helen Keller when she started this project. To this date it's blossomed to one of the look out for projects. And that's why we, The Leo Club of Taman SEA is asking all of you guys to participate in this event! Not only Leo's can participate but ALL of your friends and family can also take part and the more the merrier guys! (:

What is this you may ask?

It's a 3km walk around to create awareness to the community about how crucial it is about ones eye sight and it's no secret how it has been burdening the society. so you play a crucial part in this matter.

What do where do there?

Well, you all know about the 3 kilometer walk and all but worry not as their more interesting activities! (: There will be a lucky draw which include a 32 inch tv to be won! There will be a competition among leo clubs where 1st prize is cash plus a trophy. You can bond with other leos from various clubs!

What to wear?

Tee shirts WITH SLEEVES, jeans ( preferably ), three quarter, STRICTLY NO SHORTS.

Who can go?

Worry not as you can bring non leos as well. You can even bring your family to go too! BUT PLEASE TELL YOUR PRESIDENT AS YOUR NAMES MUST BE REGISTERED BY HIM.

LEO REALITY CAMP 10/11 Grand opening !

Now we give you the Grand opening of the LEO REALITY CAMP.
This camp is proudly organised by our sister clubs, Leo Assunta, Damansara Jaya, Taman Petaling, Leo Pji and us (duh (; )
It promises everything you guy's been craving for something that'll dazzle you!

This camp is to be conducted over the course of 3 days and 2 nights from the 25^th March till 27^th March 2011. Leo Lim Chong Seng is the Organising Chairperson of the event.

Extra set of clothes (inside and out) you guys should know what I mean ;P
and your own bottle of water just incase we don't have enough.

I would advice you guys not to bring anything important or precious as you guys would be playing and we don't want to risk anything being missing and stuff :)

Day 1 of LLC,

Everyone was just so excited. Just being in the bus makes us all so excited because we're gonna be outta our usual surroundings for 6days & 5 nights :D

All of us gathered at the front gate of SMK Dj school at around 7-8 with our huge bags and luggages.

The bus arrived and we load our stuffs and OFF WE GO !

Many were feeling excited. some tired. some homesick already.

One felt insanely hyped up and felt he was '' good looking'',

We reached our destination and. Well, briefing.. and ughh. Ill just let the pictures do the talking. :P

Leo Pledge.

We were separated into 2 teams consisting of 25 candidates each.

Leo Andrew Yeong (Health & Environmental Services Director) was chosen as the leader of Team 1.

Leo Goh Jo Yee ( Membership Director ) was chosen as the assistant of Team 2.

The icebreaking game.

Later, we were required to change to a sports attire as we'll begin our FIRST outdoor activity ! :D

It was another icebreaking game. The Trustfall where you learn to trust each other for a start.

We were asked to fall on our backs on a certain height and also to trust that our friends will be there for us. SO that we won't fall. duh.

Christmas Caroling 2010

HELLO Leos ! Christmas has been great this month! It must have been pretty Jingle-Bell-ish, right? (:
We had our Xmas Caroling and we also attended the Xmas Bazaar 2010 !

For Christmas Caroling,

As seen from above, this project was held in a Children's Home at Shelter 1. 20 of us Leos participated is this Caroling. We meet up at school around 1.40 p.m and a group of us went there by van. ( Special thanks to Martin's driver for the transport too ) :D

We reached there at approximately 2.00 p.m. The caretaker and kids there looks overwhelmed and welcomed all of us with bright smiles. (: Lion Ivan was also present to oversee this project. To entertain the kids and to spread the Christmas cheer, we had some of our Leos dressed up in Santa , Santarina and Angel outfit!

Caroling was fun with the kids. Our Santa Clause (Leo Wen Yang) managed to reveal his guitar skills,as we sang a few cheerful Christmas songs. Like the Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, 12 days of Christmas and many more.

The first game held was the musical balloons game. Never heard of it, eh? (: Basically it's the same thing as musical chairs except we uses BALLOONS instead of chairs.hehe.

Our Leos also joined in the fun and helped out with the game.(:

The little boy with a cheeky smile and hyper character named Peter. (:

Apparently this small boy here looks like our asst membership director, Leo Matthew Leong, don't you think so? (:

The next game played was known as the Pass the Parcel game. It was really entertaining as you will never know what task you may get after opening every layer of the present! But, no worries! For every task the kid does, they will get a lollipop as a gift!

Peter's task was to dance with somebody in the circle. And the lucky
Leo Chin Seng was chosen to dance with ! haha

This boy was having a little bit of dizziness as his task was to spin himself for 10 rounds! Leo Alex Leong was doing it with him. (:

All of us was exhausted playing the games..So, we took a break and have our meal time. Special thanks to Leo Michelle Lim for the delicious cream puffs!

Overall, the whole project was quite successful. Hopefully everyone had fun spreading the Christmas joy to the needy ones!

Leo Leadership Camp 2010

One of our most anticipated events of the year, LLC is now open for registration!

First and foremost, for those new members who have not heard about this camp, it is a annual camp organised by the Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity, participated by only 4 (very fortunate) clubs which is the Leo Club of Assunta, Leo Club of Damansara Jaya, Leo Club of Taman Petaling and not forgetting us, the Leo Club of Taman SEA.

As the name suggests,the objective of this camp is to develop new talents and great leaders that will lead our world one day. It is also about discovering our strengths and weaknesses including conquering our deepest fear and making the most out of our surroundings to adapt in this ever-changing society. Whilst promoting leadership, Leos get to have an amazing, adventurous outdoor experience but at the same time widening their social circle.

We're not kidding when we say that this camp will be filled with a whole load of adventure, excitement, food (yes, you will be eating your heart out), and a lot of new friends!

The camp will be held in Kem Bina Semangat, Kuala Kubu Bharu from 27th November 2010 to 2nd December 2010.

Registration for Leo is RM260 per person; inclusive of 5 nights’ accommodation, 5 breakfasts, 6 lunches, 5 dinners & Insurance.

Download the forms if you are interested because in there it contains the Course Structure (what activities you will be doing), and more.

If you ARE going (with parents approval etc) Hand your forms, cheque and whatever necessary to Leo Melvin Cheah (4BR) by 15th October 2010. Deadline will not be extended so its then or never!

Hello people!I hope many of you had a blast in the leo forum :) well no complains when you have all friends,food and fun kan?280 was worth it with awesome dinner,fun companions and great fellowship events.kudos to the forum organising committee under FOCC-Leo Michelle Wu from Leo Club of Subang Utama.and who said alpha cant do it? :)

2.Things to Bring :
- Club Uniform(white botton up long sleeves shirt,black slacks,shoes for guys and heels for girls,vest)

-A hat(for fellowship night)
-formal attire for Banquet Night(guys,long sleeve button up shirt and jeans will do and girls,not necessary long dresses.as long as its appropriate)

3. House Rules and Guidelines

Code of Conduct

ID Tag MUST be worn by Delegates at all times throughout the Forum after registration. Delegate without ID Tag will NOT BE ALLOWED to participate in any Forum events. Delegate who do not wear the ID tag, a fine of RM20. Disciplinary action will be taken to those who are caught without the ID Tag for the second time.
Replacement for LOST of ID TAG is RM50 upon verification.
ATTENDANCE is COMPULSORY for all delegates for all Forum events. Only delegates who attend all the events will be presented with the Forum certificate of attendance.
PUNCTUALITY must be observed for all Forum events.
The FOC reserves the rights to impose disciplinary actions on the following misconducts:

· Any sort of misbehaviors, rowdiness, violation of house rules, fighting gambling, smoking and consuming of alcoholic drinks is forbidden

· Any form (s) of yelling or screaming at FOCs despite any dissatisfaction

· Any forms of disruption to the flow of the Forum program, in any form (incl. the above)

· Lights off at 12.30am for both 1st and 2nd night.

· Any delegate(s) found in the rooms of the opposite sex

· Leaving any Forum events without permission from the FOC in writing (Note: You have to fill up a form to leave the Forum events/locations and it has to be verified by a Leo Advisor present. Your parents/guardians will be contacted to confirm the permission is granted)

All complaints can be directed to FOC Chief Advisor, Lion Alan Thoo. The FOC reserves the rights to contact the parents of the respective delegate(s) and they may be sent home at their own costs for their conduct. No refunds of the Forum will be entertained.
Visitors (parents of delegates only) must register at secretariat room prior to entering the Forum Venue.
Outsiders are prohibited from entering the Forum Venue. This includes friends or members of the same club or another club who is not a registered Forum delegate who choose to visit.
Delegate(s) must observe the Dress Code for all Forum events.

Hotel Rules and Regulations

No phone calls are allowed in hotel rooms (except room to room call)
Any room service charges will be borne by delegates themselves.
All delegates must observe cleanliness of all rooms.
Hotel properties are not allowed to be taken out unless they are purchased from the hotel.
Delegates must obey hotel regulations.
The delegate(s) concerned will be responsible for any cost of repair or Replacement of damaged hotel properties.

in conjuction of their 50th Anniversary, they will be organizing a 50th anniversary logo designing competition!

Here are the competition details:

Logos are to be submitted in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) format or in High Resolution PSD / JPEG or GIF.
The Logo should signify 50 years of service by the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya.
All Logos submitted are property of Lions Club of Petaling Jaya.
The winning Logo selected by the Lions Club shall be used on all stationary, letterhead, badges, website and communication materials of the Lions Club of Petaling Jaya during its 50th year in service.
The designer of the winning logo is sponsored on a free trip to the 37th MD 308 Leo Forum (Covers forum registration fees).
This competition is open to members of the Leo Clubs sponsored by Lions Club of Petaling Jaya only.

Hey ya people ;)

From today onwards we will be keeping each and everyone of you especially new members updated by blogging about all our past projects for fiscal year 2009/2010.Haha yesss abit late but better than nothing kan?

July 2009 ;)

We had our annual installation in the month of July.Installation and induction ceremony was organized by Vice President, Leo Lui Jan Yi.The theme was 'Green Beyond The Ordinary' to create awareness on ways to save our environment.and yes people,Leos are going GREEN!Guests were all entertained by witty mcees Leo Jit Sun and Leo Hui Ying and performances by Hot Attics,Sugarush and many more.well our installation was a great success after 1 whole month of preparations and hard work.from planning,rehersals,backdrops,decorations to cleaning.

In July ,our assistant IT Director,Leo Amanda Loong too redecorated our club board located near the boys toilet in Block A(just incase any of you didnt know that).

We too created a facebook account under Smkts LeoClub add us up!for more pictures and latest updates ;)

August 2009 ;)

9 of our form 5 leos which include Leo Destinee,Leo JanYi,Leo Michelle,Leo FuiSwen,Leo Calvin,Leo Gabriel,Leo Andrea,Leo WaiPhun and Leo Harpreet participated in the Leo Orientation Camp organized by our very own sister club,Leo Club of Petaling Jaya Integrity(Omega).Leos from Assunts,Taman Petaling and Damansara Jaya too joined us for the fun-filled 3days and 2nights.Activities ranging from Amazing Race,Mind Games and Communication Games were carried out.and guess what!we even learnt how to cook and yess it was edible ;) and through this camp,bonds between sister clubs became stronger and new found friendship was formed between leos from different schools.

Date : 11th to 13th June 2010.
Registration fee : RM 280.00 ( 2-nights accommodation in
